Congratulations Dowell Band Student
Submitted by Webmaster on Mon, 01/25/2010 - 1:39pm.Congratulations to Savannah Molina, 8th grade oboist at Dowell Middle School. Savannah competed in the Collin County Young Artist Competition on January 16th. Savannah earned an Honorable Mention in the Junior Category (K-8th) for her performance of Marcello's Concerto in C Minor. Savannah is a student of Mr. Steve Pettey, principal oboist with the Dallas Wind Symphony. Earning honorable mention for her first attempt at the contest is a great achievement. Way to go, Savannah!
- This competition is open to anyone (K-12) who lives in Collin County. First place winners move on to perform their music with the Plano Symphony Orchestra at a later date.
Air Force Academy Band to Perform in McKinney
Submitted by Webmaster on Tue, 01/05/2010 - 2:40pm.MISD will be hosting the Air Force Academy Band from Colorado Springs, CO, on Sunday, March 28, 2010. This will be a great opportunity for all of our band students and their families to see a professional wind band perform. It will be very entertaining and educational. The concert will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium at McKinney Boyd HS. This is a free concert for our community. However, all people who attend will need a ticket to enter. Tickets will be distributed later this spring.
